Volunteer Opportunities

Sorting 2018- Monday - Thursday- We sort and pack food for our 200+ agencies.  
Help Yourself Co-op 2018- Fridays, we have approximately 300 families come through our warehouse and receive food through our Help Yourself co-op and donated items from local grocery stores.

  • CLOSED TOED shoes required in the warehouse (sneakers are ideal).  If there is a password on a job, it is restricted to those who have been given the password from their leader (groups in advance).
  • This is a warehouse environment.  During the summer, it can be warm and in the winter, it can be cool; layered clothing is recommended.  Cold, bottled water is provided.  Volunteers will be standing, lifting and bending throughout their shift; lifting requirements for some tasks may be up to 40 lbs., though generally lighter.  Volunteers 12-15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.  Groups of 5 or more, please contact the Volunteer Department for scheduling akfisher@unitedfoodbank.org.  Court-ordered community service must speak with Volunteer Dept in advance to qualify.


United Food Bank provides food to more than 200 agencies in Eastern Maricopa County, Pinal County, Gila County, and Southern Apache and Navajo County, including homeless shelters, food pantries, churches, schools, after-school programs and more. 
Every year, we distribute appx. 27 million pounds of food to the needy in Arizona - that's enough food to provide 59,000 meals each day!
